PETHAU BACH

HELEN HICKS

Pethau Bach – Little Things was started by Helen Hicks of Llancynfelyn in the Dyfi Valley in 2004.

Helen enjoys a diverse range of craft activities and was inspired to make Children’s Dressing-up outfits after taking her daughter to a party where all the children were wearing the same shop bought costume.

Her outfits are made from recycled materials wherever possible as she abhors the disposable nature of modern clothing.  For the same reason, she began making bags from denim over a decade ago.

Helen also exhibits her range of handmade soaps and solid shampoos at the Llanidloes Christmas Fair. There are 6 soap and 3 shampoo recipes in her range, all wrapped in compostable packaging and fragranced with natural essential oils.  The soap recipes are made using palm free or organic ingredients with a full list of ingredients displayed on the packaging.

Helen became self-employed after working as a laboratory technician for some years and has never looked back.  She has been exhibiting at the Llanidloes Christmas Fair for many years and loves the diversity it offers and meeting the other crafters.  She also teaches the piano from home where she lives with her husband Steve and grown-up daughter.
